The Tulsa Port of Catoosa is the furthest inland, ice-free international seaport in America. This port serves as the head of navigation for the 445-mile McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System. Completed in 1971, the port was built with $21.2 million in funds from bond issues. The port links the Tulsa area to ports of the world by way of the Mississippi River and the Port of New Orleans.

The Museum, opened in 1982, is located in the Port Authority Building at the Port of Catoosa. Pictorial displays, historical artifacts , and a working model of a lock and dam provide visitors with information on the development of the port and waterway.

Self guided driving tours and tours of the museum and of the port are available.
